Wow. This is a ridiculous administration. Things are so fucked up that I
cannot keep up in linking to all of the amazingly dumb things that are
going on right now. Let's see:
Bush appoints the guy who sold arms to Iran as an envoy to
Iraq
In a case of interesting timing: Iran is no longer interested in dealing with the US on Iraq
issues
Also, Suprise! The Famed Aug. 6 2001 PDB wasn't the first time bush
was told about bin Laden's plans.
There are many places to find information when I'm too jaded or
overwhelmed to sift through it. And I could not possibly bring it all to
you:

Rumsfeld: Busted

Censure President Bush
Friends and Readers,
In an attempt to escape responsibility for the misleading statements
that led the nation to war, President Bush has announced plans to form an
independent inquiry to look into what went wrong. An inquiry would
serve the Bush administration well: it would envelop the issue in a
fog of uncertainty, deflect blame onto the intelligence services,
and push any political damage into 2005, after the upcoming
election.
But the facts need no clarification. Despite repeated warnings from
the CIA and Defense Intelligence Agency, President Bush and his
administration hyped and distorted the threat that Iraq posed. And
now that reality is setting in, the President seeks to pin the blame
on someone else. We can't let him.
Congress has the power to censure the President -- to formally
reprimand him for his betrayal of the nation's trust. If ever there
was a time to use this function, it is now. Join the call for
Congress to censure President Bush now at:
MoveOn.Org
Thanks.

I can't believe these ignorant homophobes...
Why must marriage exist only between a man and a woman?
It's not like homosexual couples aren't living
together, having sex and raising families.
I'll concede that polls indicate that the majority are opposed to gay
marriage but, the margin is slim except among old republicans. Hopefully
they'll die soon.
But is this an issue for our Constitution? No. This is not the sort of
application for which the Constitution was designed. If gay & lesbian
couples want the binding burdens as well as the bliss of marriage, I say
let them have it. It doesn't hurt me one bit. Don't we have more important
issues for the Federal Government to address; like the budget? Or keeping our troops alive?

February 10, 2K04Update 2
Hmmm... Did I say I was jaded? Well, you've probably heard about this. But what about this? Greg Palast seems to have the scoop. I might have to pick
up a copy
of his
book.

So I don't know what I want to talk about today but I felt that another
update was due.
Here, in Virginia, we have our Democratic Primary (Virginians: get out and
vote!) but today, my fire isn't burning too brightly under the
crucible of Presidential Politics. Somedays I haven't the energy to be outraged. I get jaded. But I don't take myself out of the
loop. I've been reading a few new sites lately to keep myself informed and
get a feel for what others have in mind. Polling
Report is a good way to check out what people are thinking. Another
site of interest is Talking Points Memo. That guy seems to have his facts
straight.
Speaking of facts, Did you know that G.W. Bush and John Kerry are both in the same 'secret society.'

This is damned clever. Being innovative should count for
something. We should allow them to stay rather than sending them back to Cuba.
Oh, and another thing: Don't you think Mel Gibson should
get the hint?

Ok, so you might have noticed I'm into music. Here's a couple of other
groups I've been checking out lately:
The
Rapture is a great group that is really growing on me. Check out
this rather excellent review. Thanks to modi for turning me on to these guys!
I've also been delving into the back catalogs of Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized. Two great bands.
Oh, and be sure to check out Epitonic.com for great music (free, legal downloads
too!)

A rare second update today!
Why the Moon? Why Now?
Is G.W. Bush really a starry-eyed dreamer who sees humanity reaching out into
space for the answers to our problems here on Earth? Or perhaps he has a
different motive.
Bush has come to think that he cannot lose. He presumes that the American
people will rally around this 'new era of discovery' thus increasing his
standing in the polls and diminishing naysayers as opponents of popular
policy. Even while these naysayers point to the gross negligence of
the Bush administration with regards to the social well-being of the
vast majority of Americans (not to mention the horrors that are occurring
around the world. How will going to the moon help the AIDS crises in Africa? I imagine that they could use
$1billion dollars annually in antiviral medications, prophylactics and education.)
Bush is simply seeking a more popular way to pad the pockets of the military-industrial complex that Eisenhower warned us about in 1961.
Do us all a favor. Vote.

If the Federal Gov't told you that the only way for you to keep your money
is to give it to the Federal Gov't you'd laugh in their face and vote 'em
out quick, right?
So, what about when they tell us that the only way to preserve our
'Freedom' is to give it up altogether?
People Disappear. Roadblocks Are Legal?! The Government Tracks Its Citizens!
Oh, and lets talk about this 'Let's Go to the Moon and Mars" bullshit. How about, "Let's fund some domestic programs that help actual regular
citizens rather than rich corporate moguls!"
It is time NOW for Americans to take back what George W. Bush has stolen
from you before he steals everything that you have left.
I always thought that the purpose of a nation was to defend our rights not
to strip them away. These times remind me of the things I was told about
the Soviet Union as a young boy: People disappear without trials or
lawyers. People cannot travel without 'proper documentation'. Will freedom
of speech go next? Perhaps it already has. I suppose I could be locked up
as an 'Enemy Combatant' for suggesting that this present US government
should be overthrown. But be clear that I propose we do so via the
elections, if those aren't hopelessly rigged...
If we find another election stolen, I'll be ready to kick down the door to
1600 Pennsylvania and perform an eviction myself. Who's with me?
